Working on Book 4, SILENCE TO SINGING

By Rosemary B Althoff, 2024

You can find a download of the current draft of Chapter 1 of Silence to Singing on my homepage. I was so happy with it—until yesterday. It’s fun reading, it had good reviews from my writer’s group. But I have a deeper purpose for the book which the chapter doesn’t show.

My purpose for writing Silence to Singing is to give readers hope in this time of all times. I want to show how Jesus doesn’t mind if we wrestle with questions and doubts and doctrines. Also, I want to show how God overcomes the evil one that wants to silence us.

Each person can sing a heart-lifting melody in the world, silencing the mocking demons. May this book-in-progress open your heart and help you start your song.

Healing America: How to talk peacefully with people on hot issues.

By Rosemary B. Althoff

Are you concerned about divisiveness in our country? Do you wish you could talk to friends about politics and/or religions without arguing?

My book, HEALING AMERICA, teaches skills that help you share with others about what’s deeply important to you. Each chapter includes an explanation of concepts foundational to communication in a democracy. Not only that, but the chapters include:

a short quiz for comprehension,

a practice in using the concept, and

space to journal your experience and see the concept at work in your life.

Feather your work when doing multiple projects

by Rosemary B. Althoff

I only have so much energy. When my workload gets big—looking huge—I work on one project at a time … for a limited time. I do not have to “waste” myself to totally complete the task in one sitting. I can get up after a bit, have a cuppa and begin work on project two—again, for a limited time.

In between projects.

Besides feathering your work with your own limited time and energy, you can feather your work among competent people. Yes, I know that it’s been said, “There’s only so many competent people in the world,” but in a large sense that’s not true. You likely have a network of people to delegate to. However, their task to feather into their own time must be specific, attainable, and measurable (SAM). This compels me to estimate carefully what I’m handing someone to do.

I’ve been able to do this successfully as a former manager at a business law publisher.
